And so it goes on. Piggy jumped two fabulous clear rounds to finish first and third in the principal CCI4*-L class at Blenheim last weekend, adding yet another international win to her tally this year. Alison Swinburn and John and Chloe Perry’s Brookfield Inocent took the title by 0.2 of a penalty, with Susanna Paybody’s Castletown Clover moving up from fifth to third.
Calling Card led the dressage in the CCI4*-S 8/9year old section, but Piggy withdrew him before the cross country after a rather expensive round in the hugely influential show jumping phase.
“Everyone keeps saying how well I’ve been doing this season, but I still couldn’t jump a clear round when it matters,” said Piggy, who last won at Blenheim in 2011. “Now I’ve done two! I was wondering what I should do differently but in the end I just tried to stay in my bubble. Both horses were in amazing form.”
