After a lorry breakdown on the way to Somerley, OBOS Cooley was fortunate to get a run in the CIC** at Burnham Market instead. He had to wait until the end of the day for his dressage test but it was worth it as he produced an excellent test for the leading score of 33.3. He rolled one pole in the show jumping to retain his lead but 10.4 time penalties across country dropped him to 3rd.
Both Seapatrick Dark Cruise and Tinkas Time produced OK tests in the CIC*** without quite nailing it on the day. Tinkas Time was bang back to form in the jumping phases adding just one time fault to his score in the show jumping before a lovely clear round the cross country. Seapatrick Dark Cruise jumped clear in the show jumping but had an unfortunate run out across country.
Westwood Mariner made his seasonal debut in the Open Intermediate, posting a solid 29.1 dressage, one rail down show jumping, and a steady clear cross country. It was good to have him back in action and Piggy was particularly pleased with how settled he was mentally.
Quarrycrest Echo ran in the Intermediate and it was a case of two phases good, one phase bad. He sat 3rd after dressage on 28.0 and jumped a nice clear cross country but did his prospects of winning no good when kicking out two show jumps. Normally a reliable jumper, he had been relaxed in the collecting ring but was anything but the minute he entered the ring, not least when putting in a big buck after the first!
