It was a ‘nearly but not quite’ week for Piggy at Strzegom. She was a little disappointed with Quarrycrest Echo’s dressage score saying: “I’m a bit gutted; this week really counts and I thought he was as good as he’s ever been; when he goes into canter he usually picks up the marks, but it was just a bit flat today. It’s disappointing but there’s lots more to come.”

Across country the pair had an excellent round bar an unlucky refusal late on the course. Piggy explained: “He was amazing and I’m really pleased with him. He just started to get a bit tired and I think I just went slightly to the left (on fence 24) and the reaction wasn’t there. The rest of the round was fab; it would definitely have been his toughest test to date.”

With one rail down on the final day Piggy completed in 28th place.

There is much to be positive about, however. “It’s really exciting to be back, it wasn’t the plan at the beginning of this year – if someone had told me six months ago I wouldn’t have believed it. Quarrycrest Echo has really stepped up this week – he’s definitely had his biggest year yet and he’s a very exciting horse; there’s lots to look forward to.”
